I’m a little late, but I’m coming!

Art
The gallery girls have decided to browse the Internet with the doors locked, and have instituted Monday-Friday only summer hours throughout the land, but a few galleries are still open on weekends. The following shows are available to ladies who lunch at their desks, are located mostly downtown, and are listed in order of preference. I will be checking out Fastnet next weekend, after I return from KC. Dinner at The Good Fork in Red Hook?
I recommend…
- Sturtevant, at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise, Harlem, through September 9
- Eric Sommer, at Fastnet in Red Hook, through August 20 (Sundays 4-8)
- Peter Shear at Fortnight Institute, East Village, through August 13
- Megan Marrin (of St. Louis) paints the corpse flower hyper-realistically, at David Lewis, LES, through August 20
- Sunset Decor (group show), at Marian Goodman, uptown, through August 25
- The Small Exceeds (group show), at New Release, SoHo, through August 20
I have been lazy this month. I still need to see these museum shows (all of which are open all month):
- Henry James and American Painting, at the Morgan Library
- Hélio Oiticica (eh leo – oy chi see ka) at The Whitney Museum
- Alexander Calder: Hypermobility at The Whitney Museum
